Overview

This rock climbing course over two days is for young people aged 12-17. Ideally you will have experience climbing on indoor walls. This course is designed to make the connection and to bridge between indoor and outdoor climbing. Our friendly, enthusiastic and highly qualified and experienced instructors will help you develop your skills climbing outside and become self-sufficient as the camp progresses. We will show you how to climb the different types of routes, develop your technique and how to deal with a variety of different challenges unique to outdoor climbing.

Venue

We will be based on the Isle of Portland in Dorset. There are a huge number of single pitch routes to develop your outdoor climbing skills at a variety of venues nearby. We will teach you to belay safely, make sure you can tie in correctly and use your equipment efficiently.

Cost

£185 per person.
This includes instruction, YHA accommodation, all specialist equipment and food (supper, breakfast and lunch).

Course date & times

Saturday 19th – Sunday 20th October 2019.
We will start at 0900 on Saturday and finish at 1600 on Sunday.
If you would like to be picked up/ dropped off at the train station in Weymouth we can arrange that too.

Accommodation

We will be using the YHA at Portland. All bedding is provided and they will provide supper on Saturday. Also breakfast and lunch on Sunday.

Equipment

All the technical equipment required to climb and camp can be provided.
Students need only provide their own personal clothing items. You will receive a full equipment list on registering. If you already have any equipment of your own then you are welcome to bring it along.

Staff

At Hepworth Adventures we are proud of our staff. All the staff have worked regularly with under 18s as well as instructing in the mountains. Many staff are also qualified teachers and some are members of AMI – the association of Mountain Instructors as well as Rock Climbing Instructors. We are able to offer a huge range of knowledge and experience to help you get the best out of this amazing sport.
Staff have all been DBS checked and are aware of our safeguarding procedures to keep the students safe whilst in our care.
