Rock Climbing

Weekend Rock Climbing

We love climbing and are very keen to pass on knowledge that we have to make a safe, fun and exciting day out.

We can provide bespoke courses for you over one, two or more days designed for your own needs and enjoyment.

Below are some of the venues that We use on a regular basis through the year.

Sea Cliff climbing at Swanage, Dorset

Where else can you get a sun tan in December in the UK? This is a venue of adventure, excitement and beautiful limestone rock. Often warm during the whole year, even if it’s snowing in Derbyshire and raining in Wales.

Southern sandstone at Harrisons Rocks, Kent.

Located just outside Tunbridge Wells this cliff is owned and managed by the BMC. It contains over 300 climbs at all grades. A car park with clean toilet facilities (well it’s important!) make for a fun day out whatever the weather- though it’s better in the sun.

Snowdonia North Wales

Snowdonia has all types of climbing from roadside crags through to remote esoteric cliffs high in the mountains. The joy of climbing in Snowdonia is that there is never a shortage of routes- with over 6 guide books to the area. It also houses some amazing campsites, bunkhouses and B&Bs to make the perfect weekend.

Scrambling and Mountaineering in the Lake District

Similar to the climbs found in Snowdonia but generally with slightly longer walk ins, there is always a quiet crag to be found even on a bank holiday weekend.

Wintours Leap and Symonds Yat in the Wye Valley

Set in the beautiful Wye valley just north of Chepstow on the English / Welsh border this is a beautiful location and there are single pitch, multi-pitch and sport options all very close to each other.

Sport Climbing at Portland, Dorset

With routes starting at 1b and some classic Portland 3s as well as some brilliant higher grade 6s and 7s there is something for everyone here. It makes for a great venue learning how to climb outside. When the wind blows it’s almost always possible to find a sheltered spot and you can be climbing in a t-shirt and shorts in February.

Single Pitch climbing at Stanage and Froggat Edge, Derbyshire.

The home of grit. Huge numbers of single pitch climbs at all grades. Abseil options, a nearby campsite and numerous B&Bs make this a great weekend to go rock climbing in the Peak District.

At Hepworth Adventures we are members of AMI – the association of Mountain Instructors and Jeremy has held the Mountain Instructor’s Award since 2006. We are able to offer a huge range of knowledge and experience to help you get the best out of this amazing sport. We also hold an AALA licence which means we enjoy taking under 18s climbing too.
